Eugenia began learning the Erhu at the age of 8 through her school’s Chinese Orchestra. She later became the concertmaster of her secondary school Chinese Orchestra and, in 2017, started training under Chia Wan Hua. In 2019, she achieved a Grade 8 Distinction in the CI-TENG Chinese Music Instrumental Grading Examinations.
Currently, Eugenia is studying under her mentor Xu Wenjing while pursuing a Bachelor of Education (Honours) at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). She also holds a Certificate in Professional Performance (CIPP) from the TENG Grading Examinations and has completed ABRSM Grade 8 in Music Theory.
In 2022, she was awarded the Mapletree-TENG Academy Scholarship, and as a scholar, performed at venues such as Tan Chin Tuan Mansion and at the Mapletree-TENG annual Once Upon a Time concert alongside The TENG Ensemble.
An active musician and educator, Eugenia has performed a variety of ensemble and orchestral works with NAFA and the Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra (SNYCO), as well as with community groups like the Marsiling Chinese Orchestra and Bukit Batok Chinese Orchestra. She has also showcased Teochew music through performances with Namhwa Opera Limited on multiple occasions.
Looking ahead, Eugenia aims to expand her repertoire so she can share her knowledge and inspire the next generation of musicians.
