🎋 What Makes the Dizi Unique?
Unlike Western flutes, the Dizi has a special hole called the mo kong (膜孔), which is covered by a thin reed membrane (dimo). This creates its signature buzzing tone that cuts through ensembles and adds character to solos.
Typically made from bamboo, the Dizi has six finger holes, one blow hole, and the special membrane hole. It comes in various keys, with C, D, and G being the most commonly used for beginners.
🎶 What Kind of Music Is Played on the Dizi?
The Dizi is incredibly versatile. It’s featured in:
- Chinese folk songs
- Classical Chinese orchestral music
