Lin Yu-chen

Erhu

Lin Yu-chen is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), majoring in Erhu, with additional studies in Piano and Composition. He began learning the erhu under the guidance of his father, Lin Yue-zhi, and is presently studying under Mr. Sunny Wong. Over the years, he has also received artistic guidance from renowned musicians including Wang Li, Zhang Haiyue, Zhao Yuan, and Tang Feng during his musical visits to China. He is currently serving as Concertmaster (Principal Erhu) of the NAFA Chinese Orchestra. 

Yu-chen has achieved numerous awards in national and international music competitions. His accomplishments include First Prize (Highest Distinction) in multiple editions of the National Student Music Competition, First Prize in the China-Singapore International Music Competition, and a Gold Award at the Nanyang International Music Competition in 2024. As a concerto soloist, he has performed works such as Li Bo Chan's renowned Erhu concerto composition "Ode To Love · Ode To War" (楚颂) with the Kaohsiung Youth Chinese Orchestra and has participated in various orchestral concerts and performances.

In addition to his performance experience, Yu-chen remains actively involved in musical collaborations and concert activities, including organizing a joint Suona and Erhu concert. He is passionate about sharing his musical knowledge and guiding students in developing strong fundamentals, musical expression, and confidence in performance.His performance of the Erhu concerto has received great review from fellow audiences.
